Its mission is to accompany, to serve and to plead the cause of refugees and other forcibly displaced people. JRS-Malta gives priority to asylum seekers in detention, offering legal assistance and social work services inside detention centres, and lobbying to change the governmental detention policy. JRS-Malta is the only civil society organisation in Malta visiting detention centres on a regular basis and offering information as well as legal and social services to immigration detainees.
